Sometimes simple called “Hard Times”, this American parlor song was written by Stephen Foster and first published in 1854. It’s a song that asks the more fortunate among us to consider our past hard times, and the current plight of the less fortunate.
Here’s the “The Comet Bluegrass All-Stars” playing this song in Cincinnati at “The Comet” which is now a bar, but used to be called “The Snowflake Inn” back when Foster performed music there.
