This song was written by the great Louis “Grandpa” Jones. It’s a love song to be sure – first about the author’s love for Lousiville, KY, but also about his love for his girl who lives there. (Oddly enough, as far as we can tell, Grandpa Jones never lived in Louisville. Maybe he considered it his hometown because his first name was Louis?)
First released as a single in 1946, this was a tune Grandpa Jones preferred to play on guitar even though it’s got some great lead lick possibilities on banjo and other instruments.
