The authorship of this 3/4 time waltz is uncertain, with it being credited to “Traditional”, Ralph Stanley, or Charles Monroe, depending on what you read. We’ll go with “traditional,” though, since it was first recorded and released by Fred and Gertrude Gossett in 1930.
