This country ballad was originally released in 1959 by Lefty Frizzell. Written by Danny Dill and Marijohn Wilkin, it’s an oft-covered tune written from the point of view of a man falsely accused of murder. Why doesn’t he speak up when falsely accused? Because when the murder was happening, he was “in the arms of my best friend’s wife.”
